Dutch oven for bread

Im looking for recommendations for a good cast iron dutch oven

I bake sourdough bread and use an upside down enamel casserole pot with the lid handle removed so it sits level, but I'd like a proper cast iron pot as what I have is ok but not great, any of ye use one and could recommend which one to buy.

I use an enamel casserole pot as well but right way up. I sprinkle a sheet of grease proof paper with flour, put the dough on that and then lower it into the pot.

Yes i have one... very much like the old cast iron with handle and 3 legs...

OP if you want proper dutch oven it be on Ebay...

I prove mine in a basket so have to put the lid of the casserole dish on top of basket and flip it over so the bottom of the bread is on the lid and the casserole dish itself becomes the lid covering the bread, if any of that makes sense. But my casserole ild doesn't have much of a lip on it and that's why Im looking for a better option

Saw that thanks and another one for about 40 quid, must compare the two and measure my casserole dish to see which is similar in size as I always make the same sourdough recipe😊

I have something similar but I prove my bread in a basket and then put the lid of the dish onto the basket where the dough is exposed (the bottom of the bread) Then flip the basket over onto the lid and cover the bread with the actual dish itself, I might be doing it arseways but it works for me. I just want to try something else to see if it suits better

Im no expert by any means but I think having a starter culture is the main thing to start off with, there's plenty of ways to do it online, I was lucky enough to get some from a professional baker who makes great sourdough so I try and keep mine alive. If you know someone who bakes sourdough bread you could ask them for some or just ask at a good bakery if they would give you some. This is the recipe I use, it might be too pernickety or too large for some but it's what Ive always used and it makes a great loaf which does the two of us for the best part of a week. But google is your friend and Im sure there's many on here with simpler methods.😊

Could you use Gloomtastic's method above? If you put the baking parchment on a cutting board, you could upend the basket onto that and then lower the bread into your pot and close it with the lid?

Yeah, I'm going to give that a try the next time I'm making bread to see if that works, would probably be a lot easier 🤣
