Why is Young Sheldon on RTE one ?

AFAIK Young Sheldon was the first American important in about 20 years to be broadcast on RTE one between 7pm&9pm.

Yeah I think you are right. Outside of the Big Big Movie. EastEnders is the only import on RTÉ ONE in the last 20 years also.
I think it was a case of we can't continually repeat programming, in these time slots.
