Employment law when resigning

Hopefully this is the right forum to ask this question. I have a question on employee rights when resigning. In employment over 12 months as a full time employee. Employment contract stated that either party must provide "at least 1 months written notice of termination" so due to holiday period I provided 60 days notice to be fair to my employer. My employer cut employment at 30 days saying it was there right. I'm not sure what is the law here, but wanted to get advice if that was allowed or am I due lost income ? Anyone know the law here or recommend who can I contact to confirm as employer did not acknowledge there was an issue with this. Thanks in advance.
