I was out my back garden having a smoke just now and a thunderous noise went overhead for about 5 secs. In the Cork airport flight and never anything like it. Any ideas ?

I mean 5 times louder than a commercial airliner at an airport distance.. I know what they sound like. I'm on that flight path but this was
passing overhead at altitude in a NE direction

Thunderous noise may be emm .. thunder. There has been a whole load of thunder activity around Cork in the early hours of this morning.
