The UK still has a Black & White TV licence in 22

And what's really strange imo is that it's £107.00 cheaper than a coloured licence. It's hard to see the logic behind this in 2022. We got rid of the black and white licence 20 years ago and it was only about a fiver cheaper than the colour licence iirc. https://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/faqs/FAQ236

Interesting double black and white TV fact: During the years that the BBC’s Black And White Minstrel Show broadcast in black and white (‘58-‘67), the “blackface” makeup they used on the minstrels was actually red, because black makeup didn’t look good when broadcast in monotone.

If you are in the UK and are colour blind do you get a B&W licence or do you claim 50% off for being blind ?

Or do you double down : A blind concession TV Licence costs ... £26.75 for a black and white TV Licence.

As Ted Lowe once said when commentating on the snooker

and for those of you who are watching in black and white, the pink is next to the green.

Black and white tvs are the newest next generation tvs in Brexit Britain.

They are on their journey back to empire.

Will he go for the easy pink or difficult brown?

Believe it or not, there would probably be a tiny fraction of the TV watching public in the UK still viewing on black and white sets.

I imagine this licence category is for them - a few MPs probably vouched for them in arguing for the B&W licence to be maintained - and it probably will be gone soon as they all die off.

Or... maybe black and white sets will be the new new cool hipster thing? They’ve revived vinyl LPs after all... 😁😜😜

Indeed, but we still have the Angelus on RTE - 25 years or so after the first calls for it to be scrapped - and which many from other countries would find very strange in a modern, secular European country in this day and age.

But The Angelus on TV is far more reflective now than it is Catholic.

The only Catholic part are the bells.

And if you did not know already that the bells had their origins in a Catholic call to prayer then you would not think that there was anything religious about it.

There should be a Gray optional License here to reflect the utter dreary, Grim, Depressing. Dispair Ladened and Talentless Shyte broadcast by RTE 😁

Is maith an scáthán súil charad.

It gives you a minute to check the BBC news headlines , go back to the RTE headlines and decide which you want to watch.

Or it's another reason to get something that can record telly so you aren't a slave to schedules.

It would take a bit of effort now to watch TV on an old back and white tv, The analogue signal was switched off a decade ago and a lot of televisions of that vintage wouldn't even have a scart socket for a digibox 😕

Everyone knows the only reason it is exists is because it was brought in when FFFG and Labour let the paedos run the country instead of those the people elected.
