Attaching light to rifle

I am looking to attach a light to a rifle. I have a clamp of sorts that will attach the light but only when the light is directly over the sight. I am getting glare from the front sight so if I could get another method of attaching the light preferably to one side it may be better. Suggestions please.

Yes. That could well be a solution to my problem.

If you are using an IR lamp, I would recommend one of these with the mount that keith s has recommended above.

With these you can focus the beam of the IR and cutdown any whiteout.

The adjustable mount is removeable in a couple of seconds

I have one of these (picture below), that stays on the scope and the adjustable one stays on the tourch.

I have a torch that is mounted above the scope and I was getting glare from my moderator. What fixed it for me was putting a hood on the front of the torch.

I experimented with some cardboard tubing then used a piece of black plastic wastpipe that extends about 3 inches from the torch lens. .

Makes little sense, but put insulation tape across the bottom 1/5 of the scope objective. Works a treat and then peel off for normal use.

You can get sun shades for sights. Much the same principle I expect.

I had a lens hood for my scope but it didn't help but the shade on the torch worked a treat.

If the light doesn't hit the moderator I suppose it can't reflect back. Now to try and find a bit of tubing the correct size.

Try the bit of insulating tape before ordering anything. It worked perfectly for me, despite my own doubts. The size, position etc of scope, lamp and mod will all obviously have an effect on what works.

Will the tape leave some sticky gooey stuff on the glass when I remove it.

Don't put it on the lens. Tape outside on the black part, but covering the bottom of the lens. Keep tape horizontal.

Get a mini picatinny rail as Keith S suggested and the adjustable mount which allows you to put the beam here you want it

I use both IR and non IR with no problems

I put a plastic champagne glass over my moderator to deflect any light spill.

Ill look at the tape trick too with keen interest..
