Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Another year, another informal poll asking what was your favourite Historical related book ( in any format) read in the past 12 months?

    Non-fiction:

Ten Caesars: Roman Emperors from Augustus to Constantine By: Barry Strauss

Hexagone. Sur les routes de l'Histoire de France By Lorànt Deutsch

    and in fiction,

Robert Harris' Cicero Trilogy on Audio-book format.

    I thoroughly enjoyed both

Born in Blackness by Howard W. French

    and

The Horde: How the Mongols Changed the World by Marie Favereau

I haven’t dipped into French writers for a while. Last time was a foray into Maurice Druon (only so-so).Does O’Brian’s ‘Maitre à Bord’ count? Heard of L’Hexagone, but a history book écrit par un comédien?  En plus, la France deviendra “l’hexagon” vers la fin du 19 Ième siècle (grosso modo). Comme ils dissent dans le Michelin, il vraimentvaut le détour/lecture?

This site is really awful. totally unintuitive, impossible to edit, etc. Smell the coffee Boards Admins!!!!
