Recently got a v60. I'm enjoying the expierance but my results are inconsistant, normally lacking body. Thats probably not a proper coffee term. With the aero press I get consistant results with 20g,to about 330 of water,(I like a mug) the same ratio in the v60 my results are what I guess is under extracted. My grinds are fairly consistant, even though its a blade grinder it seems to have a max fineness to which it will grind which seems to suit the aero. Time is usually about 330, I've tried several pour methods, stirring, swirling, single pour, nothing seems to work. Whats the secret, more coffee, less water isn't an option.

I would say it’s down to the grind size. Isn’t it supposed to be a larger grind than an aeropress, similar to a French press grind?

I've used a variety of aeropress, v60, clever drip, moka, french press and I found the v60 to be the most sensitive to grind size so I would suggest your grinder setup is holding you back. You're never going to get the uniform grind size needed with a blade grinder unfortunately.

In terms of grind size, you'd be looking for a medium type grind somewhere between aeropress and French press. I'd personally go on the slightly finer side of medium if that makes sense.

A good place to start might be getting some coffee from a cafe you like and have them grind it specifically for V60 and see how you get on with it.

Thanks for the replies guys. You are all right I think, I've watched tons of vids, including the hoffman one suggested and they all recommend a certain grind setting. I'll have to save my pennys and get a handgrinder.
