Is Chocolate too cheap

We are drowning in chocolate and just got a hamper mostly made up of chocolate. I can't recycle it to anyone as they all have a mountain of chocolate as well, we keep being given tins of sweets as presents.

My childhood self would have died and gone to heaven at the amount of chocolate we have now I just want to get rid of it.

It's not particularly cheap, especially since the quality and sizes has dropped a lot. Higher quality in small quantities is where it's at.

Folks are just excessive with it at merry old Christmas time in Ireland

in general food products in relation to our incomes are the cheapest ever. not so cheap if your are earning 60 euro a month laboring in the phillippinnes

Chocolate being cheap is another myth like MUP for alcohol peddled out by the health lobbyists, chocolate is more expensive than 10 years ago and quantities smaller thanks to shrinkflation

Chocolate in terms of cheap chocolate such as tubs, is made with the scrags of chocolate beans, palm oils and a lot of sugar.

Palm oil and sugar is cheap.

They skimp on cocoa so it has the bere minimum to qualify as chocolate. Or less in the case of Dairy Milk. They not even allowed to call it chocolate

Then smaller sizes, more packaging, bulking up with cheap ingredients (mainly sugar)

A lot of the 'artisan' stuff is a pure rip off too. Very nicely presented and decorated but u are getting feck all Chocolate after.

I stick to the Lindt 90% or similar

Lindt is awful stuff masquerading as quality Swiss chocolate. The Irish chocs like Lir and Butlers are much better than the middle european artisan chocs too

I do think the sweet tubs and that are way too cheap yes.

the fact is if any given year I can end up being given double digit amounts then they’re too bloody cheap.

thing I can’t understand is why people who know I don’t care for chocolate give me so **** much 😂

I never touch it. I pretend to accept it and later throw it in the bin. I laugh at the thought of them all getting fat and not knowing why.

Real chocolate can never be too cheap.

But the stuff that is produced by many companies is mostly sugar and cheap fat (British companies are among the worst offenders). With a little cacao for colouring.

I don't really consider it chocolate.

You don't but those of us that live in the real world do. Cadbury passes the legal requirement to be called choc. For me the fact that it's more sugar that cocoa just makes it taste so much better.
