Have 2FTs - wouldn't mind getting in Ronaldo v Brighton.

Also need to decide on getting a 2nd City player v Newcastle.

Will wait as long as possible to make a move.

Dean Smith here talking on SSN, they are awaiting some updates re: covid / injuries and mentioned that their game against West Ham at weekend could be in danger.....

Man United back in training today so their game the weekend should be OK to go.

It will be a week for last minute transfers again.

yes i'm doing my best to wait to see if utd go's ahead v brighton, will probably sell sancho and rice(bench player) to foden and ESR i'm not sure yet

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,083 ✭✭✭Chesty08

    Definitely.

Jota to Bernardo Grealish or go back to Gundog

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,416 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

Firmino is back now in full training too. We should see tomorrow night how involved he is, so a bit of time anyways.

Don't forget that Jota is fairly nailed around the time of AFCON too.

Will probably hold onto Jota because AFCON is soon

Gundogan to Foden is something I'm looking at but need a makeweight for it to happen for a -4

Either downgrade Jota, Alonso, Rudiger, Ronaldo, Watkins to make it happen...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,396 ✭✭✭COH

Have the funds to switch Brownhill to Foden for free and switch to a 352 ... would mean leaving Toney (Vs Southampton) and probably Alonso on the bench though.

  • Moderators, Education Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 35,125 Mod ✭✭✭✭AlmightyCushion

I wouldn't fancy leaving Alonso on the bench against Newcastle.

Would we say Broja is pretty much a starter by now when fit?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,862 ✭✭✭✭extra gravy

Might do Wilson to Lacazette, would give me a benching headache but I'm sure covid will take care of that anyway.

Trying to decide whether to throw a dice or pick a card.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,174 ✭✭✭Dearg81

He definitely is in the short term. Adams is injured so Armstrong is his only real competition. Broja has 6 now this season and is definitely their best finisher. The only problem with him is that he seems to be injury prone.

Getting tricky now to navigate. game called off yesterday at 3 hrs notice would mean we're back to a proper lottery.

Half thinking of just using this weeks transfer to get another body in. Have Obamidele as my bench fodder, might upgrade him to Diop if I knew the WH game was going ahead (currently in doubt)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,416 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

Southampton - Brentford also in doubt.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,553 ✭✭✭Dubh Geannain

Made the mistake of an early transfer ASM-Denis last GW.

I'll make plans but I'm holding until 10 minutes before the deadline to pull the trigger because COVID news could break at any time.

I've held Son this long I might as well continue to hold. I've had 2 of my best weeks with him on my bench.

Possibly Mbueno to Maddison or Mount.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,352 ✭✭✭✭Father Hernandez

On the off chance that Man United Brighton is postponed, I'll have no keeper having brought in DDG for Steele last week and already owning Sanchez. Bad luck really.

Rather keep DDG as fixtures are quite nice.

    Sanchez replacement?

Looking at Fabianski (5.0), good penalty save last night. Couple nice fixtures coming up - NOR, SOU, wat, pal, LEE the next 5 and will mainly be playing DDG anyway so more for this weekend. Only 4 CS's this season though.

Caballero maybe, grand and cheap at 4.5 and at home to Brentford the weekend, wouldn't be confident though.

Martinez is quite expensive at 5.5

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,602 ✭✭✭macraignil

Thinking it might be worth investing in a second playing goal keeper myself after Guaita getting rested this week.I know Martinez is a bit expensive but I think Aston Villa have had an improvement under new management and he could be worth having for the better chance of a few extra points each week and I have money in the bank to upgrade a few positions. Guaita has not proved to be a good Sanchez replacement since Sanchez's red card meant I needed to get someone new to play the week he was suspended. I don't like wasting a free transfer on a keeper but I'm happy enough with the rest of the team for next week at the moment but that might all change with game cancellations.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,717 ✭✭✭✭Muahahaha

If going Fabanski be mindful that WHs defence is depleted at the moment, Ogbonna, Creswell and Zouma are all flagged. I think Creswell is nearing return but Ogonna is long term and Zouma several weeks with a hamstring.

If you are willing to go to 5.1m for a second keeper then Ramsdale is now looking like this seasons Martinez, great shot stopper who picks up save points and has a excellent clean sheet rate so far, 8 from 14 games. I played Sanchez instead of him as I thought Sanchez had Covid (rumours were wrong in the end) and I was convinced WH would score v Arsenal. Wont be making that mistake again, from here on in I think Ramsdale is set and forget

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,862 ✭✭✭✭extra gravy

Selling Wilson might be a luxury transfer this week. Might be a good time to sell Livra. Southampton look poor defensively with all the injuries and their fixtures aren't getting any easier. Like the look of Cash, he was bombing forward a lot against Norwich.

    Man Utd - Brighton postponed

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,352 ✭✭✭✭Father Hernandez

Good thinking alright. My thinking is I only need a keeper for this weekend as will play DDG in other games but sure who knows how many more games will be affected.

Martinez might be a shout so.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,788 ✭✭✭Benimar

Deadline extended to 1.30 on Saturday.

no way I’m making a transfer before 1.20!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,174 ✭✭✭Dearg81

Southampton defence has been very poor lately not helped by having a 40 year old Cabellero in nets. I'd be looking to target strikers playing against them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,416 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

West Ham - Norwich is off

Sounds like Leicester - Everton is off too.

    Watford - Palace off

    man utd - Brighton off

    Southampton - Brentford off

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,528 ✭✭✭✭dsmythy

It's becoming a skinny gameweek. But where it could get skinnier at any time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,024 ✭✭✭ballyargus

is a Free Hit mental in this spot, esp if rivals might tough it out?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 413 ✭✭TaytoCrisps

Surely they will just call a halt to the league for a while now. Its getting ridiculous.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,849 ✭✭✭Cartman78

Jones, VVD and Fabinho all Covid positive according to James Pearce

I wouldn't personally, everyone is in the same boat. Some in better shape than others.

You might play a FH and then players you selected in a game gets called off, completely out of our hands.

Will prob wait til Saturday morning to make picks, be a lot of -4's, -8's and more.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,416 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

Ya I won't be playing any chips.

Use a FT yeah. But I think we're close to a decision being made on the league overall. After tonight's games.

They can't continue with 7 or 8 clubs for the next couple weeks.

  • Moderators, Education Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 35,125 Mod ✭✭✭✭AlmightyCushion

The problem with a free hit is that after the game week your team will go back to what it was. Some of those teams will miss 2 games so you fix it for this game week but you are in the same boat for the next one. Plus, a game could get cancelled after the deadline so the players you transfer in end up not playing either way.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,589 ✭✭✭touts

Mental. Lots of people will play it and we could still end up with more games cancelled leaving them picking unattractive defensive midfield options to make up numbers. Then in a few weeks there will be double gameweeks and the free hit chip will be invaluable to give you a team with all attack midfield, flying wing backs, etc double game players.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,862 ✭✭✭✭extra gravy

Might attack the Arsenal fixture now if it goes ahead. Livra and Wilson to Tierney and Laca is tempting. Laca might be a rotation risk in a few weeks but if I got the next 2 or 3 out of him I'd be happy, he looked really sharp last night.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,174 ✭✭✭Dearg81

Tierney was whipping in some great crosses against West Ham. I think I'll be bringing him in next week against Norwich for a Chelsea defender.

Ya he had that cracking shot against the bar as well. Only thing is he's so injury prone. Tomiyasu would probably be a safer pick but not as much fun!

    Maddison out, Saka in

    Richarlison out, Watkins in

    -4

In for a penny, in for a pound.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,386 ✭✭✭✭gammygils

I currently have 9 players. In that 9 are VVD, Reguilon and Bilva who are all flagged

    I'm more or less fcuked aren't I?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,849 ✭✭✭Cartman78

As it stands I have 10 players (no keepers, no subs)

Tempted to use my FT to actually get rid of Wilson for Lacazette but will probably look at a City defender instead

  • Moderators, Education Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 35,125 Mod ✭✭✭✭AlmightyCushion

VVD has covid so he should be out for the next game. Pretty much guaranteed. Bilva might be fine. He had a niggle during the last game and they were 3-0 up so no reason to keep him playing. He might be ok for this game. Reguilon was injured a few games ago but apparently it wasn't serious so he might be ok for this one. Hard to know though.

    I just did exactly that.

    Lacazette IN Ronaldo OUT

    Watkins IN Toney OUT

    Tierney IN Livramento OUT

I think it is Lacazettes place to lose at this stage. Wasn't he made captain?

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,602 ✭✭✭macraignil

Also might bring in Saka as I only have eight potentially playing this week with the game cancellations. Looking at bringing in Martinez as well for a -4 to have a playing goal keeper and potentially a better first choice keeper longer term as Guaita has not been working out. Have the funds to go Gilmour to Saka but will wait until close to the deadline to see if there are more games called off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 930 ✭✭✭JPup

Big risk taking a hit on transfers at this stage. Any or all of the remaining matches could easily be called off yet.

Thinking of bringing in Smith Rowe. Any reason to go for Saka? ESR seems to score more when he plays.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,676 ✭✭✭thunderdog

Not too bad-I only have 6 players. Might take 1 hit to bring that to 8 and leave it at that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,076 ✭✭✭steve_r

    I have 7 players and 2 fts.

I don’t think a hit is worth it, league could be suspended altogether at this point

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,862 ✭✭✭✭extra gravy

Really like those moves. Yeah he was vice captain so it's likely he'll be given the armband until the end of the season. Auba is supposed to be back training this week though but remains to be seen if Arteta will put him back in the starting 11 any time soon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,416 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

Madisson out Foden in, easy transfer but waiting til the deadline.

Maybe Antonio to Watkins for a -4 to make the 11 players but that would be pushing it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,671 ✭✭✭jay0109

A hit when you've less than 11 players is not a -4 and when that new player has a game. -2 at best and that's before he possibly returns.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,771 ✭✭✭Dr. Bre

If I bring in Watkins for Antonio I have 10 playing presuming they all start that is. Not sure if I am bothered taking a minus 4 to try and get eleven starters

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,641 ✭✭✭✭Green&Red

The late deadline on Saturday makes it very easy to justify a hit or even two when you haven’t 11 starting, certainly for Arsenal and Villa players. If there’s no news by 1.30pm then those games are going ahead. So you’re reducing the -4 to -2 immediately.

Martinelli is the Arsenal mid I’d be looking at over Saka. Think Tierney is a great shout too.
