State pension means test/accounts?

Just got this asked by a person who claims a non contributory state pension and does a little farming also.

When they were 66 a person from the social welfare office sorted everything out for them.(Long story).

Now they are in there seventies they just received a letter saying there doing a review on there pension and they need to submit current account, etc and also there farm accounts.

They are a person who keeps a few animals and wouldn't have much of an income out of farming. When they claimed stuff such as farm assist they basically wrote the accounts up themselves and the people in the social welfare office generally sorted stuff out with them.

So, what I'm basically asking is will them trying to do up an account themselves do or will they have to seek out an accountant.

Also, if anybody has any general advice regarding a means test on a non contributory pension it would be very helpful.

Hi, I'm not very knowledgeable on the non contributory pension and reviews. I would have to assume the review relates to looking at your friends farm income primarily to confirm means and eligibility etc. Whilst you mention SW sorted things out in the past, I would doubt that's the case now and your friend should I believe get professional help putting accounts together, perhaps a Book Keeper, accountant, obviously there will be a fee but I feel this would benefit your friend ultimately.

    Others may have different opinions,
