Thinking of switching from Ethernet to Wireless. Is this a terrible Idea?

    The ethernet cable from my desktop PC to the router (far side of house) needs to be replaced. My wife would love to abandon the wire completely because it is an ugly job running along the walls. For years I have been the curmudgeon who insists that wired is the only way to go. I am old enough to remember flaky 10 MBs wifi that needed to be reset every day. Nowadays we have a TP Link 1200Mbs mesh setup and it seems to work very well. For the last few days I have my desktop plugged in to one of the mesh nodes and I get at least 350Mbs download with ping of 8ms (Ookla). I haven't experienced any unexpected dropouts. I am thinking of using this as a long term solution. We have the 500Mbs package from Virgin so I am definitely losing something going wireless but reliability is more important to me than pure speed. Has wifi gotten good enough to effectively replace wired?

    My use case:

    Windows desktop PC used for work and gaming

    Work: Zoom / Teams etc plus a few professional packages. Not very bandwidth hungry but needs to be reliable.

    Gaming: Mainly single player games but some online (not competitive). Lots of beefy game downloads.

    General: All the usual web browsing / Youtube Netflix etc.
