Port Forwarding with Vodafone Gigabox

Hi

I have just had Vodafone gigabit installed and its working fine but the router won't let me forward ports. If i log into the router and go to port mapping and fill in the required ports and save them, then test to see if they are open it get a closed result. what am i missing? Do i need a static IP address on the Pc I'm using.

I'm in the same boat, I've done everything the sites tell me but no joy.

Can't find help anywhere! Did you get sorted and if so, what did you do?

No luck so far. I was speaking to Vodafone technical support who told me it wasn't possible to open a port, I think they were a bit lost with my question.

You should set your desktop to have a static IP.

Expert Settings -> Settings -> Lan Settings -> DHCP reservation - Home Network -> Click the + -> Select the device from the drop down menu -> Enter the address (last box) you want to change it to and click apply. Restart the device and your computer will keep that IP for whenever it joins the network.

I was speaking to a guy I know who works with all this and he said all the engineers are told not to open ports when installing, bloody joke
