How are consumer rights implemented when it comes to self-assemble furniture.

Bought a bed a couple of months ago and assembled it. However the bed squeaks, it is getting worse and is very annoying. I feel like if it was something else I would ask for a repair, refund or replacement as I don't think it meets reasonable expectations.

However the fact that I assembled it myself makes me wonder what my options are,I'm certainly not the best at DIY and think there is every chance the issue is something I did. I have had a more competent friend come and have a look at it and tighten some screws etc. but it hasn't really helped- and he thinks it might be an issue with the materials themselves - but obviously he is hardly an independent adjudicator. What usually happens in situations like this?

do you know where the squeak is coming from? if you can identify where there may be two surfaces rubbing, might be worth trying to rube the side of a candle along one of the surfaces which could eliminate the squeak.

i would ring up the company and ask their advice. they might help lubricate something or where to add some glue or a bracket to secure it better
