Soundbar query for 55" OLED

Hi, I am looking for a new soundbar for a 55" LG C9 I purchased from yourselves a couple of years ago. It is in a medium sized room used for movies and tv shows. I would be looking for a good movie experience.

Is there much of a difference in sound quality between the LG SL8YG and the Sonos BEAM GEN 2 Black?

    1. Are there any other soundbars in that price range you would recommend?
    2. Would the Samsung Hw-q700a be a significant upgrade on the Samsung Hw-q600a?

    Many thanks

    Hi Wikidy.

    Thanks for the post.

The Beam Gen 2 would be the better product in my opinion, especially for steaming music as the Sonos app is fantastic. However with the added subwoofer with the LG it give a lot more depth over the Beam with no subwoofer.

The current 499 Euro on the Beam is a nice little deal and makes it cheaper than our sterling retail. The Gen 2 beam also sounds every bit as good with the improvements made over the Gen 1 version.

The main difference between the Q600a and Q700a is that the 600a does not have eARC. Both perform very similarly other than that but the 600a is slightly more powerful at 360 Watts.

I hope this is of help.

Thank you for the info as always.

I'm in 2 minds if I need a sub for movies and if the dedicated upward firing speakers would make a difference for dolby atmos movies, rather than Sonos' virtual atmos.

The sonos sub is out of budget, but ikea sonos compatible rear speakers are a possibility.

As with many people I probably won't be in the cinema for a while.

    Hey Wikidy.

It really depends on how much bass you like.

I have the older Beam with 2 Play 1's as rears in my living room and think its perfect for the job without the subwoofer. However I do have my home cinema setup in a different room for gaming and movies for when I want the full cinema experience.

The upward firing speakers do produce extra emersion for movies with an Atmos soundtrack and add to the feel of the movie.
