Customs checks at Holyhead port?

    Hey all,

Not sure if this is the right place to ask but thought I’d chance it to see if anyone has experience with this.

So I’m moving residence to the UK for work, heading over on the ferry this Friday. Bringing an assortment of personal possessions with me and have filled in their Transfer of Residence Relief which gives duty relief to personal possessions when moving indefinitely. That hasn’t been approved yet, so getting a bit nervous.

I have been reading about customs at Holyhead and apparently they still haven’t started checks since Brexit? I read that it’s apparently been delayed to July 2022 now, so supposedly goods can be brought in free of any paperwork etc?

Anyone who has been over recently, reckon I should be grand with a car full of random possessions - a computer monitor, tv, lots of clothes, some home appliances etc, at Holyhead, or do customs inspect and charge car passengers for goods they’re bringing in? I expect the ToR relief application will go through but not sure if they’ll approve before the ferry trip, and can’t delay as due to start work next week.

Cheers for any input anyone has!

Went over last week, zero checks going out or coming back, just asked on way back if we'd filled in locator form, didnt want to see it

Ditto here. Went over two weeks ago, had a car engine in the boot and cases on the back seat, not stopped whatsoever.

on the way back was just asked did I fill in the form, but wasn’t asked to produce it.
