patio door replacement

I have a sliding patio door at the back of my house which I feel is insecure and I'd like to replace it with something more secure. There is only one lock on it which is quite flimsy. I think. Could anyone suggest a style of door to replace it please. There have been a few break ins here lately and I'd like to feel a bit safer.

A French door would be a good move if it suits the requirements.

They have very good security these days when compared with the doors of old. Plus sliding doors aren't typically very well sealed due to the sliding parts. You could also go for triple-glazed for a small extra cost.

I got a little door lock that stops the door from being moved when engaged.

Sliding doors are quite safe if fitted correctly.

There are locking devices for sliding patio doors which enhance security. The one I had was a bolt that went through the central post on the inside through the frame on the the outside sliding door. A very simple device which was effective. Worth replacing a euro cylinder lock with an absd type
