Has anyone used and can recommend software (free ideally) for illustrating information such as workflows or simply a topic of interest?

If you want to make process maps and workflows, Draw.io or diagrams.net (same app) is free and can be used to make wireframes, charts, diagrams etc

You can paste in backgrounds and graphics and then create flows and illustrate topics
