Big chance for Carbery to step up today and nail on his place as the next starting 10 for Ireland. Hopefully he has a great game.

Will be interesting also to see Murray and how he plays, will Ireland to continue to play the attacking rugby we have seen in last two games or revert to Murray's normal game of more box kick focused.

Balacoune on the wing will be interesting but this might be a long day standing waiting for the ball to get out of the forward if Ireland get pulled into trench warfare with Argie

SHould be a good game anyway, looking forward to it

Jack Conan has been ruled out

Caelan Doris shifts to 8, O’Mahony in at 6

Ryan Baird promoted to the bench.

Jack Conan out, Peter O'Mahony comes in at blindside and Caelan Doris to No 8. Ryan Baird comes on to the bench

This is usually the cue for Peter O’Mahoney to have a MOTM performance.

O’mahony will bring some much needed steel to the Eire backrow. Unrivalled at turnover ball and lineout steals

It does look like Beirne is viewed 100% as a lock now for Ireland

With Conan crying off, I think I'd have put Beirne at 6, with Baird and Coombes on the bench.

Kinda strange, that with all our backrow resources, we end up with two Second Rows on the bench. Some of the dedicated backrows must be quite frustrated after that late change.

When you look at the Irish team it makes me wonder would Carbery have gotten a start if Sexton was fit?

With a settled side I’m expecting Carbery to deliver a big performance.

Would have preferred Casey starting all the same.

Beirne is 20, so probably will be back row cover and play at blind side so O’Mahony would shift to open side.

if Doris goes off could see Beirne at 8 perhaps.

Baird is 19, so will probably replace Henderson at lock with 20 to go.

Edit: Henderson injured in warm-up, so Beirne starts at lock and Timoney to cover back row on the bench.

I don't think POM and VDF works in the same backrow anymore. There just isn't enough muscle there. Neither is the heavy duty carrier like Conan and Doris are. VDF has improved his carrying a lot, but he works well as an auxiliary carrier after the big ball carriers have done the initial work.

Might work ok for today. But can't see it being successful over the long term. It's a move away from the game plan from the hard carrying and ultra athleticism we've seen in recent weeks. Probably the only change available is Coombes who probably isn't 100%. Would hope he's rotated into the squad in the future.

How long before Lavinini gets a yellow card?

    I’ll say under 20mins

I think this Autumn is likely to be the last hurrah for POM making the team. There's too many younger, more dynamic players coming through.

Henderson has been ruled out last minute and Beirne moves to the starting 15. Timoney promoted to the bench.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,943 ✭✭✭ionadnapokot

No Conan? Beirne also gone. Oh no it’s actually Henderson who’s gone

Glad to see Baird finally going to get a gallop.

Coombes isn’t with the squad out there so he clearly still is recovering from that illness he had. Sad for him as today would have been a nice opportunity.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,717 ✭✭✭✭Larbre34

Not a most desirable scenario to have all that upheaval. However you'd back Beirne to have a stormer whenever asked.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,697 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Think it's Henderson that's gone and Beirne to the starting 15.

That's disjointed from Ireland. Beirne totally out of position.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,271 ✭✭✭A-Train

Terrible start all from the box kick

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,943 ✭✭✭ionadnapokot

Henshaw needs to get his hands going

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,697 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

How on earth was Lowe left with a 4 on 1 to defend there?

    Big systems error.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,076 ✭✭✭leakyboots

    No arms from Lowe

Asleep at the wheel! Good try though.

Henderson must have been doubt sooner than they let on. Baird was promoted to the bench earlier than the henderson announcement. Baird is 2nd row cover

    Odd error from Keenan

Bread and butter mistake from keenan, but early signs of argentinas weakenss kn set piece.

They are looking to give our midfield no time or space, going to be difficult to get Lowe or RB into the game while they target speed into midfield.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,697 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

    That's outrageous from Kelleher.

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 8,344 ✭✭✭fitz

Murray noticably slower getting the ball away the JGP was last week. Frustrating.

Some excellent set piece work in the last 90 seconds. Beirne steals an Argentina lineout first and on our next lineout we mail over.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,943 ✭✭✭ionadnapokot

iv seen him do that a few times. I think he did the same v France in 6N

Murray’s kick boxing has been poor so far

I would love to know on what universe that Kelleher tackle isnt a penalty...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,708 ✭✭✭ScissorPaperRock

Yeah we've really lost something without JGP

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 72,204 ✭✭✭✭FrancieBrady

    Murray inviting the intercept

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,421 ✭✭✭theVersatile

Momentum took him beyond horizontal - no tip.

Haven't rewinded to look at it some presuming there was arms?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,142 ✭✭✭M three

That last Irl attack in Arg 22 really highlighted the difference between Murray and JGP. Murrays passing is slower and less precise, blasting the ball at furlong from 2 yards, wtf?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 495 ✭✭Láidir agus Dílis

Get him off to fcuk and bring on young Casey to blood him.
