I’m sure there are still a few snurgers operating in the country, but you’d have to imagine its popularity started to decline when people stopped cycling to mass. Often a lad would sneak out after communion for a good saddle sniff.

The Dublin Bike Scheme was the death knell for saddle sniffing. Just became too risky for the “sniffer” to be sure who’s saddle they were getting.

The market got saturated and even if the pervert was on the scene to ensure their desires target was last on the bike there might still be some residual “funk” from the, unknown, user before. A dangerous and, ultimately, unrewarding game.

I know someone who worked there. Customers have been reporting this to staff for years. Things must have come to a head (that's an oral sex reference) recently and they had to get the Guards in to wave their truncheons (i.e. their penises) around.
