RTE Player & Smart tv/Chromecast or Saorview Combo

    I'm looking to watch RTE and record programmes on my TV (or use the RTE player) without a monthly contract with Sky etc and also be able to use Netflix. I've discounted casting from my phone as its such a pain. I'm thinking my options are

    Buy a cheapish Smart TV that has the RTE Player on it but not sure if it works great on a tv does it?

    Buy Google Chromecast but same issue with RTE Player perhaps

    Buy a saorview box with record option and HD box and also Google Chromecast for Netflix

    Any advice/ experience with the above would be appreciated. Cheers.
