Could be either. Some people are born with recognised mental disorders such as narcissism, OCD or autism which make not only make them challenging, but make the normal world challenging to them. As Arthur Fleck once famously said, "The problem with having a mental disorder is that people expect you to beahve as if you don't have one." Genetics is certainly not the right word though.

And then some people are just brought up in toxic environments and take it out on the world.

I was watching a psychologist being interviewed once and his opinion was that parents had from the age of 0-4 to socialise their children to an acceptable level to enable interaction with other children. If this was not achieved it was extremely difficult for the child ever to catch up and fit in.

that's the point I'm making. there's no simple answer to this question. there's a variety of factors at play to consider & it's vastly more complex than can be dissected effectively or fairly on a forum - especially After Hours.

People pass the buck too much. You have the ability to influence your own development. If you're weird, or whatever, as an adult, (without some deeply traumatic experience), then it's all on you. (or me, in this case).

3. Nope. You're definitely weird too, but people accept you more. However we are from the Midlands, so everyone is pretty damn strange in the grand scheme of things.

Well, there is a fine line between a positive self-image and narcissism, but I accept your point. But a lot of mental and personality disorders are present from birth and bothing to do with gennetics. Society's refusal to accept these is what makes people with them look weird or even dangerous.

I've two kids ( five and three)

Five year old is prone to loosing his temper and needs to control everything and everyone around him, nice kid most of the time

Our three year old is extremely easy going and just gets on with everything and everyone

I think tiktok, twitter, and facebook are bigger factors.. They encourage the lunacy.. But the Universities probably have the biggest part to play in it all.. Your average weirdo like me is in the penny place compared to folks like this Canadian (ex?) hairdresser..
