Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Great list of Courses Fix, a couple of new ones for me there aswell. Your enthusiasm for the Captaincy is great and the Friday addition this year is a great idea for the social side of the society. That’s an important part of the days out getting to dissect the good and bad golf we’ve all played on the day with aload of golf nuts.

    Here’s to 2022 being a great year.

Looks like a great lineup! I'm interested joining in too. Hi Seve, getting permissions error also so can't dm you. Cheers

Guys. Your post count is too low to send pm’s.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,591 ✭✭✭blue note

I'd have clicked into someone's profile to send them a message previously. Seve's is private so you can't do that, but you can create a new message in the message section and type his name. If you have enough posts to do that.

  • Registered Users Posts: 273 ✭✭Snackbox20

Congrats again Fixed on your captaincy and the very best of luck for 2022.

A great list of courses, never played Carton House, Headfirst, or Greystones, so really looking forward to playing those. A lovely mix of courses and some nearer to home in Nenagh and Dundrum, only out the road. Both are really testing with Dundrum having those 3 holes across the road and Nenagh have some really andulating and tricky reads on their greens.

C,Mon feck off 2021 so I can count down proper to Portmarnock.

Looking forward to catching up with the boards golfers and meeting new players in the new year. Last couple of games in winter conditions have been short of sh1t, but need a serious boot in the rear and more practice 😁.

Sorry folks, I've taken my profile off private now so it should be easier to pm me. I've also updated my signature, if you want to join, just send me required info and i'll set you up.

I've updated teamer now and have included any requests. there are a few interests who space tagged in a pm but haven't responded so if you are not yet in the teamer group, check your pm's and send me required info. It's still November, so loads of time before our first outing, but better get in early :)

I was in the soc 2 years ago but took last year off for obvs reasons. Looking forward to getting out to a few more outings in 2022

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,388 ✭✭✭macslash

Like many, I'm a long time lurker. Doubt I'll get joined up as I can't see myself being able to go to most next year but I'd be very hopeful of 1 if not 2. That'll depend on numbers at the times. Great list of courses, and best of luck for the year!

Hard luck lads in the Jug a few weeks back. Next year 🤞

I finally joined last year but only made it to one event… hoping to improve on that next year.Everyone was very friendly so I was delighted that I finally put my name down. Some lovely courses next year and I would love to play Carton House! Am I still on the list Seve? Best of luck to the new Captain…I’m very appreciative of all the work that goes on in the background, so fair play😊

I believe if you are using mobile platform you may not be able to see my signature and some have clearly not seen the golf society rules and regs thread 🤷‍♂️

So to join the society we look for active boards members so please get involved with the golf forum and contribute your thoughts, opinions, photos, reviews and whatever else you might have to say about our beautiful game. We really want to see you posting on the society threads, so tell us about your rounds on the boards tour of Ireland and about meeting like minded golf nutters off the internet and going for a walk with them in a field a 2 hours drive away 😀

if you want to join, let us know here and drop me a pm with your name, mobile, email, gui no and club. Don’t worry if you are not in a club, let us know if you ever had a handicap/or not and we will set you up with a society one.

lastly can I just say if you are nervously thinking about it, stop thinking…… we have members from all 4 corners of Ireland, we have old and young, we have ladies and gents, we have single figure handicappers and 25 handicap hackers. Come along and join the ride

I’m gonna just throw up another snap, this time of the 5th green in Greystones. Might make a habit of this between now and next June. Just tell me to stop if you don’t want any more

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 257 ✭✭eireyiddo

Hi Seve, id be keen on joining up. That's a nice looking list of courses and seems like a good bit of banter to be had. Only playing 2 years but learning pretty fast that there's no rhyme or reason to this crazy game. Sometimes you just got to laugh when them golfing god's are not on your side. I'll send on my details and hopefully hear back from you

    Hi Guys and Gals

Long time since I was on here

Basically life threw me a few curve balls over the past few years and golf went completely off my priority list

If its okay I would like to re-join for 2022 and hope to make most outings

Game is crap, not even a member of a club for the past 3 years so have no idea how new HC system works or what HC I should be

With age, broken body and crap game I reckon anywhere around 24 to 28 should do me :)

Best of luck Fix for the year

  • Registered Users Posts: 251 ✭✭Panic Stations

Probably like most I gave last year a miss but looking forward to getting out again.

Have a new bag of clubs that need breaking in.

Hi all, hope all are well - great show tonight to ring in the Christmas start.

Anyway - the plans continue in the background to keep things as well as they have been in the past - and improve where we see things we can do without lockdown etc.

It is a tough time for people - alone , covid back making people retract , be isolated , fearful and in doubt.

We hope as a committee that 2022 will be a special year , that we can return to full golf and a schedule that is full and of great variety.

February - and the new year is not far off - it is going to be special, stay in , connected and communicating.

Happy new year - hope you get a few nice surprises in the socks, like golf, when the game is torn , in doubt , hopeless. There can be something especial around the next corner or hole.

    Fix.

If you feel like it - throw a fiver into the #THEBUSK above , great show. (is this a golf society fix ? 😂)

Decided to stay in Kerry for another year, so looking forward to getting lots of mileage again this year. Worked it out at around 4.5 thousand km, and thats not including where the Captains will be 🤣

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,510 ✭✭✭VW 1

Should that have triggered a prompt to the email address provided? I did a search for teamed in my mails but don't see anything incoming.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,070 ✭✭✭✭Seve OB

Don’t know what it does but you are set up anyway 👍🏻

  • Registered Users Posts: 251 ✭✭Panic Stations

I can't see any upcoming events on it.

Do they normally populate a few weeks before the outing?

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,216 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

Yeah, they won't show in Teamer till they are added, usually the week before.

OK Guys, Hope all are good - swinging , keeping warm , hoping and dreaming of the future, working on something, seeing a shot that changes everything.

We are not far off our first outing. We hope to get the invites out by Friday the 14th of January. Thanks SeveOB for taking all the details of the new members.

Our first outing is at a real favorite of mine, Portmarnock Links. https://www.portmarnock.com/course-guide.htm

Anyone who grew up in Ireland in the 80s will have great memories of the Irish Opens on the east coast , the years of Seve (not OB), Faldo , Woosnam , O'Connor, Lyle -and some rather odd US additions like Calcavecchia and Strange. It was a golden era of the European Tour and in particular for the Irish opens at that time.

There was another rather serious golfer, that the Irish took a love for at that time and that was Bernhard Langer , It was a rather strange mix , the Irish at the time, unprofessional, fun , there for the craic - and here was a person, with the total opposite characteristics , but, the Irish loved the whole drama around his seriousness, his routine, his methodical Germanic precise nature. Bernhard fell in love with links golf and even amazingly, practiced in Corballis (as the true urban myth has grown).

So on a personal note, it is lovely to kick of on a Bernhard Langer signature course - there is only one type of golf to play at this time of year and that is Links. It always amazes me the great condition you can get on a Links at this time of year and hopefully the weather is good.

If you have never played a Links - it might be a good idea to play Corballis or another on the east coast prior to this outing - drop the 60 and 64 degree 😂 - practice your putting off the green and chip and runs - get to a bunker practice area and swing fast and aggressive with your SW to get over that lip. I will add that as course difficulty goes - this one is at the higher end and can be tough in wind.

For this outing we have secured a great rate (People should look up a Saturday rate for here) . We will also be encouraging people to join the society for the year. Invites will go out to people who are members of society first. (note more details will follow next week)

But there will obviously be a few spaces for once off and people who want to try out - But as mentioned before , these will have to pay additional cost associated and competition entry .

Note the cost of the first two outings are on higher side and we will return nearer to the €45 as the year progresses. This is because, our first two courses are top tier courses, targeting exceptional winter conditions. You will have to trust us, that we have tried everything in our powers to keep costs down (but as people know well , the industry has moved on considerably) - notwithstanding this - we have secured , sponsorship , contacts and members to enable the best value , for what I hope people agree, are top level courses.

    Costing

    1) Membership of society €35 -Covers ( Golfer of the year entry/prizes - Society Green Fee Fund - Prize Fund and all comp Entry (except 2s / novelty / Tiger side bets)

    2) Outing €55

    Total = €90

    Visitor / non member €70

    Prizes

    1st / 2nd / 3rd

    Gross Prize

    2s competition

(no long drive at this event - pace of play / winter)

Again - thanks to all the guys working in the background on making the outings as good as they can be. Massive amount of time put into securing sponsorship and making the admin as easy as possible for members and the committee.

More details will be posted next week and then prior to event.

By the way, we are always open to anyone out there who has any ideas for prizes in any area they have contacts or involvements. You know me, I have the neck to ask....everything goes back into the society.

Thanks again guys - now as captain, I order you to get out and practice (joking - kinda 😆) - (Last tip) it is a Links, the fairway is there , hit it there - dont go for the massive bunker right and left.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,997 ✭✭✭✭FixdePitchmark

To add to above - I think we have a few Bernhards in this society 😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,070 ✭✭✭✭Seve OB

i think a week on a few dry (and maybe not so dry if there are a lot of lakes) parkland courses would be ideal prep.

watch out for the gators though 😎
