240,000 km I think. Has that van the timing belt check recall on it?

There is always more than 1 factor. Kilometers, time and the load conditions is the biggest. You can use maximum kilometers only if your van is driving every day non stop hundreds of kilometers by very light load. Time factor typically is about 4-6 years. The load factor depends how heavy is your load or leg. If you are delivery guy and stop hundreds of times every day, that start/stop wears it too. So, maximum kilometers is usually dream only. If you buy the belt or service to replace it, think about do you really like to risk by cheap aftermarket part or use original one. There is so many timing belt recalls thanks for people who beat the sh*t out from the van and then blame the crap quality. Sure, the quality can be always better if you spend more money for dream van (if that ever possible...dream van...uhhhh). My suggestion is to use common sense and cut the service intervals shorter. It is your tool, so maintain it better than manufacturer suggest. Manufacturers likes to sell the new van, so they stretch these intervals longer to get more wear. Off the warranty, they do not care anymore except parts sale money. Preventive maintenance is completely ok.
