4G router data usage

Having recently started using a 4G router with a prepay SIM as the sole provision of home internet, how much daily data should it use based upon the following:

Three devices connected -Apple Watch, MacBook Pro and iPhone

Usage mainly consisting of browsing the web, email, WhatsApp messaging and Facebook

No full video streaming rather occasional clips

No gaming 

The router is a used one but the username and password have been changed and the WIFI password is in use.

I bought a 30GB data sim and have used that in 14 days so will have to change the plan to unlimited.

Automatic software, app updates and iCloud backups are enabled but in practice it's only the iPhone using these.

Is this usage considered excessive?

30GB/14d ->> 60GB/30d so 100GB should cover your needs, providing you do not change your usage pattern, that you dont have yet as just started using 4G and demand most likely will grow up.

Who you with?

Three has unlimited €20/28d - get it and forget it.

For last several years using for whole household (unrestricted for anything and everything ) ~ 500-750Gb/Mo, occasionally 1Tb

At a guess using a phone sim in router on the old €20 prepay package, literally 1000's doing it.

Honestly, if you've a legacy sim it does , by this I mean a 3 pay phone package that was purchased over a year ago. Newer sims may be monitored for data usage and how sim is being used, for example 3 never permitted tethering, that is using phone sim as hot spot, by putting the sim in router, your essentially tethering. 3 never, ever did anything about it despite it being in the Terms and conditions, newer sims however may be checked for data usage.

I've a few friends with the older 3 pay phone package, €20 , they make an occasional call from the sim as a precaution but mainly use it in routers, another friend tried this recently with newer sim and package and was blocked pretty quickly so personally its worth a try but no guarantees, also worth pointing out, 3 care will offer no support if customer using phone package sim in router.

Yeah I can confirm I picked up a sim today popped it into a Huawei E5331 and it doesn't work
