Clutch is gone in my Primastar and I want to move it from where it is to home about half a mile away.

Would I be asking too much of a 1.7 Astra to do the towing?

Empty,it's no heavier than an Insignia @ about 1800kg. It's running so it has steering & brakes. Really up to how comfortable you are doing it.

    Thanks DN.

Sure I’ll give it a go tomorrow.

Definitely the clutch gone and not the gear selector? It has a common issue with the selector coming off the joint in the engine bay easily rectified.

    Thanks Lister.

Not 100% sure but think it’s the master cylinder.

Press the pedal and it drops to the floor.

Opposite happens when I lift it back up by hand

ie no resistance in either direction.

Have you checked the fluid reservoir?

    No, must do that.

Been busy with a house move so had to just park it up till now.

Towing shouldn't be a problem for the astra. Pedal dropping to the floor is a sign the slave cylinder is gone

I had a golf where this happened.

    Release lever had broken
