Returning to bikes

Hi all,

I have some questions I'm struggling to find the answer for. I've been off bikes for the past 6-7 years now. At that time I was on my 2nd provisional. Since then it has expired and I lost it.

Could I apply for that permit to be renewed or do I have to apply for a new one altogether ? Back then IIRC it was an A learner permit with the restrictions. I have IBT done (I think it was 5-6 modules) does that have to be redone now ?

Any pointers of where to start again would be ideal as I'm kinda lost with the new regulations. I'm 32 at the moment so will be going for the Full A.

ibt expires after 2 years and learner permit expires after 5 years iirc , just apply afresh and start over ,a few older lads who had biked for years sat the ibt when i sat mine and all benefited from doing it.

Ibt is expired you'll have to redo it, permits are 5 years I think so you'll need to redo the theory test too

That's what I thought. I do agree with regards to the IBT, it's invaluable after being off for so long.

I've sent NDLS an e-mail just there to confirm. As far as I know the last permit expired Jul 2016 so if it's over 5 years then yea I'll need to start from scratch.

Ops permit was expired by a few years before covid, I'd doubt they'd give it any consideration, especially as after 2 permits you need proof of a test/booking to renew iirc
