1.42 Galway RAGNAR LODBROK 20/1 PP EW NAP

A lot of these have little or no chasing experience. The pick has had one go over the larger obstacles, and, for me, @ 11s or above he rates a bet. Ragnar Lodbrok gets a tick in most boxes here: recent run, goes well at the course, likes both soft ground and the distance.. The recent run was his chase debut, and all the rest of the 'pluses' are from his hurdling days. Re his recent run - on the face of it, it doesn't look like much, as he was beaten 34 lengths. That race, however, was ran at the course, and in a fast time. He wasn't really fancied that day, but got from A to B over a trip that was possibly on the short side, and he didn't appear to make any real mistakes. The extra 4 furlongs, allied to the benefit of that more than respectable, imo, first chase run, may well see him in contention here at juicy odds. More rain would be another massive plus too.. I think that that inauspicious, on the surface of it, chase debut; plus the fact that his two previous (and moderate at best) runs were in hot hurdles' races, and on ground no worse than yielding, are making this fellah possibly about a dozen points bigger than he may well could/should be.... Very little not to like 😋

    Gluck 😊
