LPT query

Really sorry if this is a completely stupid question but here goes (and thanks a million in advance for the help)

I am in the process of submitting my LPT valuation (am I correct in saying this needs to be the value as at 01/11/2021 and needs to be submitted by 07/11/2021?)

I would like to do this now, but what is the date payment is actually due? i.e what is the latest I can actually pay this without being penalised?

When submitting my value today, it takes me to the payment page but I don't see an option to pay at a later date (deferral options don't seem to apply).

Is November 1st the exact date payment must be submitted? I see there is an Annual Debit Instruction (ADI): Under a single debit instruction you can authorise your bank or financial institution to pay Revenue the LPT due. The specified amount is taken from your bank account in one deduction on 21 March 2022. Your ADI will carry forward each year unless you change your payment option online or contact Revenue.

Can you pay in March of next year without incurring any extra charges?

You should have an option to have it deducted at source so you don't need to worry about the DD.

You can choose to set up an ADI - which will make the property compliant now, and will remove the charge from your bank account on the 21st May 2022.

Or you can opt to make a phased payment, by Direct Debit or in your Local Post Office. All the options are available on the tab down buttons when you are in your LPT account online

Do you have to submit an actual price or a range? I've to fill one in for a relative, range will be easy, actual price will be a pain.

You must make your declaration on how you are going to pay by the 7th Nov.

You could leave it until March of 2022 to make the payment if desired. (I have, by direct debit)

You are paying for your 2022 liabilty so it should be paid before 1/1/22 - That is the latest date if paying immediately whenever you do make the payment.

'Is November 1st the exact date payment must be submitted?' No

Which of the dropdown options is the ADi though?

    • Deduction at Source
    • SEPA Monthly Direct Debit
    • SEPA Annual Debit Instruction
    • Debit / Credit Card
    • Deferral
    • Pay via Service Providers

But on the site you need to declare the price range and it takes you directly to payment options. How would I pay directly by debit card on say 31/12/2021 (last day before 1/1/22), i'd already need to have submitted a valuation? and I cannot do this without bypassing the payment stage.

When you choose debit/credit card there is mention of choosing option to select Single Debit Authority as an alternative payment method, which is deducted from your account on 21 March 2022. Is this done via your bank account rather than your card?

Just pick the valuation band range of what the property is worth.

Does it matter if you submit your return before 1st November?

i understand house value must be value on 1st November.

No, doesn't matter. I did mine today as I'm sick looking at it.

    Hi there,

im trying to understand this LPT. My house has increased in value but I don’t think it’s as high as they are saying. The calculation tool says we in band 3 but I think band 2 is fairer but I don’t think I’m going to argue it.

Currently I pay by monthly direct debit. Can I continue to pay this way?

Yes you can - if you complete the return online, your DD details are copied from your current instructions and continue without interruption.

I pay monthly by DD and this is how my return worked.

Thanks, I couldn’t make head nor tail or the explainers. The statement totally confused me thought I owed for last few years… Chanced logging in and it was easy… thanks again

I think the government are making it incredibly confusing to complete this propertytax and submit valuation. For starters the eircode finder does not work!

Is the LPT online service down for anyone else?

I'm getting an error when trying to access it.

    Error 500--Internal Server Error

From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:

    10.5.1 500 Internal Server Error

The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it from fulfilling the request.

    I found it easy.

I will do it again now to check.

    (1) Log into MyAccount

    (2) Chose LPT

    (3) press Step 2, I recall

    (4) check the details and choose the correct band

    (5) Step 3 is to set up the payment method.

I'd say it took me 10-15 minutes.

LPT Eircode map working fine now.

Note that it's not always correct, and band division goes through my estate in the wrong place.

But I expected that, as nobody came out and checked very estate.

My apologies, the declaration deadline is 5pm next Wednesday, 10 November 2021. not 31/12/21 as I previously stated.
