Hi, just as the title says, we have a french door in a room we're looking to make into a sitting room, never gets used as a door and it's an old, not very well thermally efficient aluminium sliding french door.

How easy/impossible would it be to take it out, brick up half the void and put a new window there?

Not difficult to do at all....if you can find a builder to do it! Just build up wall in construction to match existing external wall, installing damp proof courses at floor level, and installing new window cill. Fit new window. Make good/plaster. Job done.
