2022 WDF World Darts Championships - 2nd - 10th April - Lakeside

So the WDF have the confirmed that the 2022 WDF World Championships will be going ahead in Lakeside. They've also officially announced the prize money and TV coverage etc. I must admit that I'm surprised the prize fund is so large, especially for the Women's tournament.

My only worry is that ticket prices seem very expensive for an amateur darts tournament. Hopefully they can manage to sell them.

There is qualifiers for this at the Kilarney darts festival on 12th,13th and 14th of November. A fantastic weekend no matter what standard your game is. Looking forward to it!

The PDC must have had a word with her because there is no other reason why she shouldn't play in it. She'd be a clear favourite to win. Womens tournament will have very little interest in it now.

It would ruin her shtick as best female player in the world if she was beaten can't blame her though far more money to be made for her in PDC through sponsorship exhibitions and now ridiculously the premier league as well.

Ticket sales have been atrocious though. Only 15% of tickets sold so far. Hardly surprising given the extortionate ticket prices and the complete lack of names playing in this.

Yeah the prices are insane they need to be reduced ASAP Potter won't finance it again if he gets Fcuk all back in drink food hotel stays etc. £134 for one day and 1 night accommodation crazy and tickets must be bought in groups of 2.

WDF World Championships has been postponed for three months. The stated reason is COVID but I suspect the paltry amount of ticket sales contributed to the decision too.

New tournament dates are - Saturday 2nd to Sunday 10th April 2022. I think these dates are better anyway as the tournament now no longer clashes with the PDC World Championships and Q-School.

I grew up watching and being enthralled by the darts at the Lakeside. I hope they manage to keep it going but sadly I think it’s dying a horrible slow death

Seems they are bending the rules for her too, she is the only player allowed play in both world championships? Diogo Portella was kicking up a fuss about it.

She's not a Tour Card holder, so the PDC can't stop her taking part. As for Diogo, he wouldn't have gotten an invite anyway, he's only 50th in the WDF rankings (where 51 of his 85 points he only just won the weekend just gone)

Fallon Sherrock has withdrawn from the WDF World Championship for a second time, a statement from her management confirmed.

Sherrock initially declined an invitation last December when the inaugural WDF World Championship was due to be held in January.

However, she accepted a second invitation last week after it was confirmed that Russian players were unable to compete, thus ruling out Anastasia Dobromyslova and Elena Shulgina.

Just days later, though, Sherrock has again pulled out of the competition, with no specific reason given for the decision.
