It's like they are playing a mix tape of 30 easy listening songs over and over again.

I tuned in at the weekend and twice since. Three times.

Every time I tuned in I have heard the songs "Flying Without Wings", "Save The Best For Last", "Saving All My Love For You" and "Been All Around the World".

Hardly a coincidence.

How many songs are actually in rotation on Sunshine? I would love to know.

You could argue that Radio One talk shows take the same few news stories and rotate them even more heavily in a matter of hours.

Add to that their obsession with cancer, terminal illness and death and Radio One, with a much larger budget, is as guilty as Sunshine of heavy rotation.

Oh, and it seems to work for them both in audience terms.

I would take the Commodores over Westlife. But to be fair I haven't heard that one on Sunshine. Maybe they should add it, AND ABOUT 500 MORE SONGS.

I remember there was a radio station in Dublin claiming they never played the same song in any 24 hour period.

There's a difference between running with the same few news stories – where different angles, opinions and insights can be given – to the same song which will always be identical when it's being played (unless Sunshine start doing some remixes!).

4fm had a very wide variety of music for it's first 18 months or so but people didn't like that according to the jnlrs

So it's the listeners fault that the same small group of songs keep being played!! In the case of Sunshine 106.8, I can't really see it being a big deal to hear a wider selection of songs once the songs fit the style of of the station. They might even get a few people to stay tuned a bit longer, and they might get a few new listeners once they know. It's hardly radical - just playing from a wider selection of similar-styled songs.
