Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The World Grand Prix gets under way next Monday. It's been held in Leicester instead of the Citywest this year and I suspect it won't be coming to Citywest again.

    The draw has been made:

    2021 BoyleSports World Grand Prix

    Draw Bracket

    1. (1) Gerwyn Price v Michael Smith
    2. Martijn Kleermaker v Mervyn King
    3. (8) Dave Chisnall v Mensur Suljovic
    4. Joe Cullen v Ross Smith
    5. (4) James Wade v Damon Heta
    6. Stephen Bunting v Daryl Gurney
    7. (5) Dimitri Van den Bergh v Ryan Searle
    8. Dirk van Duijvenbode v Luke Humphries
    9. (2) Peter Wright v Rob Cross
    10. Nathan Aspinall v Krzysztof Ratajski
    11. (7) Jose de Sousa v Glen Durrant
    12. Callan Rydz v Jonny Clayton
    13. (3) Michael van Gerwen v Danny Noppert
    14. Vincent van der Voort v Gabriel Clemens
    15. (6) Gary Anderson v Ian White
    16. Darius Labanauskas v Brendan Dolan

Some great first round matches with the standout match for me being Price v Michael Smith. Notable player missing is Adrian Lewis as he continues to tumble down the rankings.

Price v Smith the standout tie. Heta and Wade is another good one, I can see Humphries beating DVD

It starts Sunday not Monday I think ?

Didn't realise Durrant qualified for this, he should withdraw really and probably retire.

Hard to get used to this not been in Dublin

I imagine it's only a one year deal and it will be back in CityWest for 2022. If its gone permanently from Dublin could we get some of sort of new European major in its place ?

Not in the Citywest. The venue is poor because it's so hard get to and especially home from. The attendances have been terrible the last few times it was played there.

Maybe the tournament will be moved back to the Citywest but only if they are paying the PDC to hold it there.

Jose De Sousa 4/6 to win 2-0 in sets. Free money.

Durrant 300/1 that's how far he's fallen. Wonder if Dolan might go on another run this year Double in/Double out makes a bit of a difference

I do like this tournment but it not been in Dublin takes away from it a little

Bloody Irish government and there slow reopening of the events sector

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,651 ✭✭✭US2

City West was always empty until the second weekend. Delighted it's moved

    Always a laugh up there

Remember done 2 nights a few years back and **** me I overdone it on the 1st night. Those jugs of orchard thieves are lethal

    Kleermaker's finishing was brutal there

The days of the pot belly darts player are ending

All about the slim clean cut appearance these days esp the 2 lads on now

Rydz was swatted away there by Clayton

Andersons doubles could be his downfall tonight

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,761 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

Poor game there with White and Ando. White just had a better double start % than Ando 27% to 41%. Highest out only 58

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,147 ✭✭✭✭paulie21

Anderson was woeful there and Ian White still nearly bottled it

No messing from Cross in set 1. Two lovely ton 80s at critical times. Wonder if there's a breeze there tonight, as there's been quite a few wayward darts so far, not least Wrighty hitting the big 7 in the last leg..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,280 ✭✭✭✭mdwexford

This always throws up some strange results.

Has some of the most bizarre quarter final line ups in PDC history.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,885 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

    So unlucky there by MVG

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,823 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

Jaysus when Mvg was coming on stage it looked like there was about 20 people there

    Noppert impressive there

Big names dropping like flies. No love lost between Noppert and MVG it seems... no hint of an acknowledgment post match.

When's the last time Duzza won a match on TV? The worlds?

Some of his darts are an absolute mile off, sad to see

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,651 ✭✭✭US2

Ca ching! Too short for me to back, was inevitable. 58 average from Glen. Why won't he just retire he's finished

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,761 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

Yep when he bet Diogo Portella.

Durrant's whole throw is completely gone and the World Championship is the only tv tourney left for him this year

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 12,294 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kingp35

It was very tough watching Duzza last night. His throw is completely gone, he has no back swing at all, he just pushes the darts forward and his entire body moves while throwing. He'll continue to show up at the majors he has qualified for, pick up his pay packet and he'll be gone by end of the next year when he loses his tour card. Sad to see.

Ya, wonder what the story is there. MvG seems to have beef with quite a few of the Dutch players. They played at the Nordic Masters a few weeks ago and the same. And I hear Noppert accused MvG of gamesmanship after this game, stomping his feet or something...?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,280 ✭✭✭✭mdwexford

    It really is sad.

Adrian Lewis lost his game but not this badly this quickly. Hoping he can get it back together but it’s not looking likely at the moment.

Don't know if it's the TV but this new Unicorn dartboard looks a bit flimsy

    Well done Ryan Searle 👏👏

A few players were giving out about it. Unicorn own a load of shares in the PDC which is the only reason their sub-standard boards get used.

Quality match here between JDS and The Ferret. Jose had 2 at a double to go two legs up in set two, as well as being a set up. Would have been a mountain to climb for Jonny then.. A miscount from Jose didn't help his cause in the deciding leg... No messing from Jonny when he came back and dispatched the remaining 70 with 2 darts. The Portuguese the best player so far, but at a set apiece it's anyone's game here..

The Ferret is on fire here 😁

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,885 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

    Side 1

    QFs

    Price vs Chizzy

    Bunting vs Searle

    Side 2

    QFs

    Clayton vs Ratajski

    Noppart vs White

Some interesting ties in tonights QFs, Side 2 a little unusual with the players left but this tournament is so unpredictable

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 217 ✭✭volono

Although I'd love to see Chizzy to finally go on and win a big tournament and it's no easy task even trying to get through Price, the fella has always found a way to lose. He throws on instinct but as soon as he sees the finish line it's like his brain re-engages and he falls to pieces. Be no different tonight I'm guessing, be a tight game and he'll disappear at the crucial moments.

Although I like Searle , have to fancy Bunting in this game. He really actually believes in himself again, makes a world of difference from the last few years for him.

The comms will overhype the life out of Clayton and although I think he'll win , it'll be close.

White is a huge bottler, I'm more than surprised he's got this far. Noppert by a landslide.

Always the best night of the week , the Q/F's, should be a good watch.

Agree on Bunting... He's slight underdog v Searle, I would probably have him favourite for that match myself..

And, as for White, I think the crowd helped him get over the line last night 😁 Danny Noppert is a fan favourite too, and even if he aint British, I can't see the crowd support being all one-sided..

Should be a great card tonight.. Hoping for some quality dartistry... On paper, it doesn't look as if there will be any landslide victories, but it probably won't pan out that way.. My picks are Price, Bunting, Jonny, and Danny. Would like to see Chizzy and Ryan Searle to win tho....

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,761 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

Hope Noppert gets to the final. Been through a tough time recently after losing his father last month

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,010 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

Clayton really made a balls of that one! What's with the Fallon Sherrock ads?

"Clayton Lurking on an easy finish" 😁 just after he busted 134! 😁 Should have went for the big 18 anyhow, nd not the twenty area.
