Phone not working with bridged Vodafone router

Hi all,

The father in law upgraded to FTTH a few months ago, got the Vodafone standard POS router which was dropping the wireless connection so I bridged it and put in a couple of TPLink Deco units, all working grand now.

However his phone service (the Vodafone also provide) is no longer working, it's still connected into the bridged Vodafone router.

I'm about 50 miles away so don't have all the details but he says the phone connection won't fix into the TPLink Deco (I'm assuming the phone is still using an RJ11 connection and the TPLink is RJ45.

Any advice to get the phone working again?

Install TeamViewer or one of those remote desktop control software and fix it .

Phone wouldn't work in a bridge mode , so you have to reverse it. You should keep provider supplied device in Router mode and switch Deco in to AP mode.

Thank for the response, so there is no way to connect the phone to the TPLink whilst in router mode?

An rj11 plug will fit into an rj45 socket.

Forget about TPlink , you won't be able to connect the phone to it regardless of the mode .

What I am saying , you won't be able use the phone with VODAFONE router in the bridge mode.

Alec is correct, the phone service is "virtual" and the router is the ATA. When you bridge it you break it. If VF offered the SIP details you could buy your own ATA but they dont.
