I need to buy a new cooker but not sure if I should wait for New Year sales. My cooker is on its last legs and I'm worried it won't make Christmas! Anyone know if prices drop before Christmas at all?

Realistically the likes of DID, power city , Harvey Norman etc don't move prices much throughout the year on these type of appliances, you might be lucky and find say a brand or clearance sale but it's luck of draw really ,looking in the right place at the right time. You may get a better offer from a local independent retailer and also factor in (if required) disposal of your old appliance, can be free but some charge and some don't remove at all .

The only reason I clicked was because I thought it said "Hooker" 😮

But seeing as I'm here now I'll give my two p. If you wait until the sales you are destined to get a piece of crap that they couldn't get rid of during the year. Unless you have something in mind and keep an eye on it and hope it comes down.

I would also suggest looking for a new element. You can get OEM ones for dirt cheap if you have a popular brand. It is a piece of cake to replace it if you have any practical skill at all. I replaced my element and it's like a new oven altogether.

Sales similar to those special Friday sales after Thanksgiving in the US are common enough here now, maybe there'll be some good deals then if you can wait until the end of November. Check out Currys, PC World, Argos, Buy it Direct, they might have something to suit.

I'm late getting back here as I never got alerts about the posts! We already replaced the grill element last year but it's going wonky again, and I don't trust the oven as it's hit and miss whether it decides to turn on or not! I'm eyeing up a particular model as suggested and we're checking it regularly so fingers crossed. Thanks all.
