do i need to replace the firebrick on in my open fire?

just cleaning out my open fire for the incoming use for the winter and i noticed the firebrick at the back is in bad shape. see image below.

do i need to replace it or can it be filled or is it ok?

is it a diy job or for a chimney person to replace?

Easy job for DIY. The link you were given can be used (cheap enough) or you could go online and find alternatives. It is said that this fire cement dries harder that the original firebrick. I used it about 4/5 years ago and it is still intact. Don't waste your money on new bricks use this instead. In the tub it looks like a stony paste easily moulded and shaped to suit. Use a small scraper to put it on then smooth it down. If you want to "dolly it up then spend a few more quid on some spray paint with a high heat temperature resistance and there you have it "Robert's yer dad's brother" At that point you will think it was brand new and it will mellow into the rest of it's surroundings. Hope that saves you a few quid. I would say it should be dead easy.

^ That's the one. Very easy to use. I used it when fitting a new fireplace in the gaff last year and it has worked well.
