All info courtesy of Night Watchman on Digital Spy

"According to this BBC One regional schedule a further 15 regional HD channels are listed from Thursday October 21 2021. In the current schedule with 22 channels only 4 are HD channels. The new list comprises 37 seven channels of which 19 are HD channels!.

These changes will allow the BBC to finally move BBC One HD to slot 101 freeing up 106 for BBC Three HD which hopefully is due to return early next year now that Ofcom are finally considering the BBC’s proposals and presumably will approve its reintroduction unless there are serious objections. According to the Guardian today Ofcom has already issued a provisional greenlight. BBC One SD will most likely move down to the 173 area along with BBC Three SD to join BBC Four SD.

The BBC has not issued an official statement as yet and it is not clear if all of the new regional HD channels will be available from October 21 or if there will be a staggered introduction. There will probably be a bit of transponder hopping to contend with. Watch this space!"

It will be added to Sky UK before the end of 2022, so it will probably also be added to Sky Ireland.

Apparently; the whole of the BBC is meant to be rebranded across the UK from that date; either the 20th or 21st of October 2021. This will mean that a whole new look be introduced for services like BBC One, BBC Four & BBC News. It is being rebranded under a new project called Project Chameleon which has been undertaken by the BBC since the summer. It will mean to give an example that the Oneness idents currently seen on BBC One will be scrapped for good & be replaced with a new look from the 20th/21st October. New BBC One idents are being filmed to specific groups of people who live along the M25. Other things including BBC Radio & BBC iPlayer may also have a new look in place for licence fee payers as well in the future.

Here's a little sneak peek to get your minds interested.

Regional programmes broadcast by BBC One in England will finally be available in HD from next month.

All 12 English regions and another three sub regions will be made available in HD on platforms including Sky, Freeview and Freesat. Currently BBC One’s HD feed broadcasts a rolling caption advising viewers to retune for their regional news shows that follow the network’s main bulletins at 1pm, 6pm and 10pm.

The change is scheduled to take place on October 21st, following an announcement earlier this year.

Viewers in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland already have HD versions of BBC One available.

According to who? The BBC announced it would happen in 2022.

If it does happen next month, it'll probably just be on iPlayer. ITV still don't have full HD regions on Freeview, so it would be very unlikely for the BBC to have it done in a month

There are tests for Channel 4 HD regions on satellite, which haven't even been announced yet. I wouldn't be surprised if all the BBC HD regions launch on Freeview/Sat within the next month

The problem with doing this massive HD rollout is that you cannot expect the BBC to do it all in one go on every TV platform across the UK & Ireland. The BBC need to have extra equipment like built in, HD broadcast studio gallerys for every remaining BBC News regional studio based in England & HD decoders & multiplex switchers in place for every TV platform first to allow all of the BBC One English regions to go full HD. If you're watching most of the BBC Regional News bulletins from across England on iPlayer say after the 20th/21st of October; you probably won't see it in full HD on it's 1st day of transmission; it will be upscaled HD for a while. 3 of these BBC One regions are Full HD ready which are London, North West & South West. These areas can go HD in a flip of a switch once they have their HD channel up for testing on the various TV platforms in the UK because all of the ground work to make them HD ready was already done a few years ago. BBC Alba & BBC Parliament are also ready to go with HD schedules to run from the 20th/21st October on iPlayer. I suspect they may go HD on satellite when BBC Two NI HD is launched alongside them once the BBC have the required capacity to broadcast them in the near future. In the meantime; will have to wait & see what happens next will all of this news when the rebrand takes place in October. All I can say for now is watch this space.

It seems the hoped for launch of BBC 1 HD regions was a "technical error" in their EPG listings and they are not happening in the near future. 😔

Interesting to note this "error" still hasn't been corrected as of 30 Sept. Has the BBC really gotten THAT bad? 🙄
