What happens to all the fields or land that is ploughed at the ploughing Championships. Does the local farmer or a contractor sow wheat or some potatoes or lettuce or whatever there or what?

Yes a crop is sown on the land to be harvested the following year. The little yellow stems you see sticking out of the ground are from a crop that was harvested this year.
