Registering and Insuring a classic from Japan

So I bought something a little different from Japan. It will be here by the end of October fingers crossed. Question about insurance until I VRT it I need it insured. Since its on Japanese plates with weird characters how to do you tell the insurance company? Base it on the chassis number? VRT will be 200e and I also need to figure out how to collect a car from Dublin Port. I have all the documents already

They'll cover it based on the VIN number I believe.

you could use google lens, that will translate the characters for you.

It's a 1985 Nissan Laurel GT auto, got a V6 Turbo. Lots of space, pretty comfy. It's not massively fast but it can move when asked. Needs a few little things done but nothing major.
