RSV and Pi3 in cows??

Hi everyone,

Do people think that cows suffer from Pi3 and RSV?

Cows coughing in an IBR vaccinated herd, some have small bits of mucus on their noses sometimes. Otherwise healthy out

Cows panting when walking?

Neighbour had it too, he’s recently had the vet out to blood test

No, not just this year. Cows start coughing abit every year but I think it could be viral as they are not long after receiving Eprinex (7weeks ago).

They arent panting when walking more so just start coughing when they get up for morning milking.

I might get the same done next week. Get vet to do a blood sample.

Definitely an issue in some herds. Don't assume IBR.

From the datasheet:

Prolonged Activity Eprinex Pour-on for Beef and Dairy Cattle, applied as recommended, effectively controls reinfections with Ostertagia spp. (including O. ostertagi and O. lyrata), Cooperia spp. (including C. oncophora, C. punctata and C. surnabada), Nematodirus helvetianus, Oesophagostomum radiatum and Dictyocaulus viviparus for up to 28 days after treatment and Haemonchus placei and Trichostrongylus spp. (including T.axei and T. colubriformis) for up to 21 days after treatment. Eprinex Pour-On for Beef and Dairy Cattle controls Haematobia irritans (horn flies) for at least 7 days after treatment.

RSV and PI3 can cause issues in dairy cows but common things are common.... it's worth investigating.
