Should I sign on for credits

I resigned from my current job in August and officially finish on 10th September (including annual leave)

I was supposed to start a new job on 6th September.

There is a contractual issue and it is delayed because there is a wait on some paperwork.

I dont know when I will be starting but should I sign on for credits next week just in case?

To the best of my knowledge, as you voluntarily resigned, you have to wait 9 weeks before you can sign on.

I would advise you to do this as if not then there will be a break in your PRSI contributions.

She must sign on regardless of whether or not she is entitled to payment.

I understand the 9 week potential penalty but the OP 's position is easily explained, that is they have a new job, resigned to take that job and unavoidable delay in start date. I sense, OP is more concerned about contributions but they may be entitled to JSB for a period of time also. Regardless I certainly would sign on in order to avoid a break in contributions.
