That’s blown it wide open, anyone’s race now. Bizarre crash.

And we all probably assumed that Lewis having a slow pit stop would be the talking point. Jesus.

Thank goodness for the halo there again, but it looked like Hamilton still got hit on the head

    So who is at fault?

    Both for me.

    Thanks christ for the halo

Well the halo did it’s job.

The halo saved Hamilton's life there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,938 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

That would have been horrific if not for the halo

Not really anyone obviously at fault there.

Racing incident for me, no blame attached to either driver for me having seen a few angles.

    Jaysus. That’s scary.

    Advantage Redbull.

Lewis could have badly hurt by that rear wheel of the RedBull, really showing the importance of the halo and safety yet again

Hamilton didn't want to give an inch and Verstappen reciprocated.

Geez, that could have been very nasty for Hamilton.

Jesus that slo mo - Lewis is a lucky boy

That slow-mo replay was terrifying, can only imagine what Lewis was thinking and thank god for the Halo!

Racing incident. They both could have backed out there at one point or another, and they didn't. That's racing.

Racing incident you'd imagine that will go down as?

Halo is the real winner today. Some incident.

It's no different than the first lap really.

    Only difference is the outcome

One driver took the hit to avoid a crash on the first incident and both continued

One driver refused to avoid the crash and now both cars are out

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,297 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

Neither of them were going to back out there - no point in even asking that question.

Racing incident is fair yep, only because we can't penalise the sausage kerb

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,178 ✭✭✭✭Frank Bullitt

    Racing incident for me.

Verstappen, if we use the same metric as for the Roggia on lap 1. Hamilton, in that occasion, bailed out having no space. Max tried to get past practically outside of the track. End of it.

Lewis didn't leave max space on the 2nd part of the chicance

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,297 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

Also Max not having any power on, It did look very much like tyre and helmet contact - some difference if the back wheels were spinning.

Hamilton did not leave a car’s width so on balance it was more his fault. However, I would describe this as a racing incident.

Having seen it a few times I think it’s a racing incident, Lewis came out of the pit aggressive and left just enough room but once max hit the bumper kerb thingy it was done and dusted. You could argue that Lewis did turn in when coming out of the corner but the crash would have still happened anyway!
