    Kin looks good

The issue is never the issue; the issue is always the revolution.

The Entryism process: 1) Demand access; 2) Demand accommodation; 3) Demand a seat at the table; 4) Demand to run the table; 5) Demand to run the institution; 6) Run the institution to produce more activists and policy until they run it into the ground.

I've seen countless posts on here blaming Tubs for the downfall of the LLS

Yet they log on here every week obviously watching so why do hey come back to beef.

I don't get it, don't watch if your not entertained, there are enough other options available.

Yeah. Seems to be loosely based on the Kinahan/Hutch thing.

I tuned in for a few minutes tonight having listened to mr tubs promising a lighter show with hope and entertainment and what did I see? Dolores mum and Sophie’s son. Whilst on a human level I feel sorry for the tragedy they have endured, this is not entertaining and not what I want to watch after a long week. So, mr tubs i give that a 1/10 and I’ll be avoiding watching the LL misery porn show again this season. It literally can’t get worse.

I think thats a great idea but would suggest a tweak so we get an overall Late Late Show Misery-o-Meter (TM) for each show and the entire series as a whole.

So if he has a musician/actor/sportsperson on and he mentions death or a terminal illness that has to get marked down. So the end result would look something like this

Sports stars: Total 38, of which Tubs turned 33 into a misery slot

Actors: Total 45, of which Tubs turned 35 into a misery slot, etc, and so on

Then you would also log the guests who are there specifically for the misery slot. That could even develop its own sub categories like cancer, heart disease, road traffic deaths, suicide, murder and so on. It would give us a great overview of what misery is the most popular on a Friday night on the Late Late. My bet is it will be a neck and neck race between suicide and cancer with the odd murder bringing up the rear.

If you did it like that at the end of the series we would have a fantastic overview of exactly how much misery this show delivers and the many, many different ways that Tubs has of delivering it. At the very end we can tot up what percentage of all guests were asked about misery to get the final Late Late Show Misery-o-Meter (TM) score.

Maybe some of us who partake here entertain each other.

  • Registered Users Posts: 412 ✭✭ghoulfinger

Yeah, we could have a Misery Score for each show.

All the segments were old and stale. Katie Harrington won her medals ages ago. We've had our fill of that news. The carpool karaoke thing was so boring because we've all seen it before. Stale and boring. Do something original or just do very little, like gaybo. Just talk.

All we want is simple, plain chat. Good chat. Get that right.

This seems reasonable. I know myself I'd be sickened to mark an athlete down as 'sport' if a section of the interview had a touch of misery so the qualifying aspect sounds good to me. Needless to say the death / illness segments are naturally all misery.

This may require our fellow gluttons for punishment to flag if an otherwise innocent segment touches on misery!

I was also thinking maybe a running total of segment numbers at the top (I.e 6 tonight) so that a % of misery, sport, rte friends etc can be reflected. Basically easy enough to do every week on the thread. Simplicity is key always.

Any more detailed than that however runs the risk of the log becoming slightly unwiledly in my opinion. ( maybe an appendix at the bottom for the type of illness as you have suggested, I don't have the heart for this persoanlly)

My vision is that at a quick glance the figures should speak for themselves and make a sharp impact as to the absolute depravity and exploitative content we all pay so dearly for every week. Opinions welcome.

For the record I'm going to go with a 40%+ misery hit rate, which is a lot for an 'entertainment' show where the hit rate should be 0%.

    Suggested after day 1:

Late Late Show Segements 2021/2022: 6

    Friends of RTE: 0

    Sport: 1 (16%)

    Music: 1 (16%)

    Illness / death: 2 (32%)

    Other: 2 (32%)

*Bonus* Toy Show mention: 1/1 (100%)

Yeah I think thats a good way of doing it and counting the segments works well as we can get an overall percentage of misery per show. As you say its important to capture the misery in interviews where there shouldnt otherwise be except for Tubs obsession with death and illness.

I especially like the Friends of RTE and Toy Show categories. You just know he is going to mention the Toy Show at least once a week from now till Xmas but even after that it he'll actually have Toy Show kids back on the show in February/March to tell us about their new found fame and how great the Toy Show was.

For the first time, tonight he flagged two of next week's guests. He used to do it on thre radio on thursday before the show. This week it was on wednesday. It's only a matter of time br=efore we hear next week's guests before this week's show.

I'm one of those fortunate people who depends on Saorview to watch RTE, I say fortunate as RTE1 has been blank for weeks , can't receive it at all on Saorview, it's a seasonal thing , but certainly enjoyed the Thread, seems I've certainly not missed much, same old predictable stuff from Tubs and the LLS 😁

Is maith an scáthán súil charad.

Might have been mentioned here, but I hate the way Ryan treated the Male Gold Medallists from the Olympics Rowing.

It’s like no matter what they said he was ready to burst out fake laughing and just can’t seem to ask them normal questions. Actually came across as fairly patronising and I’d say the lads found it unbearable.

’hahahahaha ah god leaving your medal on the kitchen table hahhahahah ah sure you’re only having a laugh’

Does anyone have the link to the discussion which listed all the misery slots over the entire season from a couple of years back? Can't find it on the new look boards!

  • Registered Users Posts: 19,615 ✭✭✭✭Muahahaha

yeah I was wondering about that myself, if anyone knows where it is please link as you cant find much on this new Boards

Thought the interview with Donie was shite. No questions on how he made it from Ireland to CNN or any interesting questions on his role. Just generic questions and "not at all planned" plug for taytos.... How much did they pay for that ha. Also..... Donie's legs are far too small for him. Looked gas in the chair haha.

If the MQ (misery quotient) exceeds a certain figure, that show could be Gold-(or Black) Starred for Misery. At the end of season we could could see a list of the shows which extracted the most National Tears.
