Tighten up lambing

Hi all, working full time & trying to lamb ewes as compact as possible. How long before letting off ram should you flush? I see that you buy a sheath for a ram now so that he acts as a teaser, anyone try this?

Worth giving them a bolus?

Yes, and more prolific with second heat after introducing ram.

Minerals premating are a good idea especially if you find that your lambs have needed minerals during the year, ie. if for example they get scabby ears or poor thrive.

Neighbour uses the 'no mate' harness , he finds it very good, even too good, I met him in the middle of lambing last year and lambs were coming very fast..... he swore he was going to burn the nomate harness.

I just put the rams in the next field, they do their chatting up through the gate

Would you leave the ram alongside for a certain amount of days?

2-5 days is supposed to be enough but we often left them next to the ewes for fourteen days and then let them in

hi all, just letting rams out this week and the other day noticed a ram lamb had been out with ewes cant imagine he did anything but he was big enough around 42-44 kg and all the actions of a ram, would he have helped bring the ewes cycling?
