Does anyone know how long appeals typically take via email?

You'd think it would be faster than by post, but felt it was worth asking anyway.

    Thanks.

    Is this for DA🤔

Assuming it is and you've been declined it will make little difference to appeal lenght wether info emailed (if that's an option) or by post. Whatever method used, insure you keep copies of everything submitted.

Appeals on a DA decision generally means all the information submitted will be reviewed by an appeals officer so when requesting an appeal try to make sure you've supplied everything and if there's additional letters from GP/specialists etc submit them.

As explained previously, it's not uncommon to have to appeal a DA initial decision. Fingers crossed for you 😉

    Hi again,

Yes it is. They were quick enough to refuse, then I submitted my appeal via post, rang the appeals office 2.5 weeks later and the appeal "must have been lost" and "no appeal had ever been registered to my PPS number". So I was told on the phone to repeat the appeal process, only this time submit my appeal via email, so I've done that.

I've sent away any/all documentation I have, and made copies (plural) of each.

I guess it is very rare postal documentation goes missing or gets lost but it can happen. Now that you have emailed the appeal and documentation there's an electronic trail as such and you've done the right thing keeping copies of documentation etc.

You don't mention if you got a confirmation email of receipt of information, email etc, I know the department can be slow in confirming receipt of any application, I'm also unsure if a DA application progress can be checked on mywelfare accounts, so I'd certainly make a quick call to confirm receipt of your appeal, if you've already received confirmation that's great, it's really now a waiting process. It can be slow but it will be reviewed thouraghly.

Fingers crossed you'll get a positive answer in the coming weeks 😉

I did get an automatic bot response, and this morning got an email saying "I wish to acknowledge receipt of your email, which has been passed to my colleagues in our Registration Section for their attention and direct reply to you.".

Thanks for that, I have everything crossed.

Don't be afraid to plague them with phone calls, It will push your application up the queue and you'll get answers faster and if more info is required they'll tell you sooner

As much as I'd love to do that, I've heard horror stories regarding the social welfare. I don't want my appeal to be "lost" again.

To add to that, because my appeal was lost the first time, my 21 days are already up...
