Trying to do a DIY fix it job on a pair of NIKE runners I have. The whole sole of the runner came off So, I bought this stuff called Shoe Goo on Amazon www.amazon.co.uk/Shoe-Goo-Crystal-Permanent-Adhesive/dp/B08P5NYJ2B/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=shoe+goo&qid=1629066334&sr=8-2 but, it didnt do the job After a while the stuff (goo) is peeling off but, Im a bit confused on which glue to use next maybe, Superglue ??? What would be the best to use on the shoe ? The sole literally came off whole with the end of the shoe being a fabric I dont know what type of glue I need to glue it back to the sole which I presume is some sort of rubber. Any help would be much appreciated

Don't bother with a hot glue gun. That much I can tell ye :( Superglue? Again, see, it tends to dry to a stiffer form. Shoe's gonna need a shed ton of stretch and flexibility.

Dunno if natural latex might be any good?

Old mate of mine served in 'nam. Reckons the locals made their footwear from old tyres and used glue they made from rice starch. I never got the recipe.

There's a bit of write up how to glue the shoes and some glue suggestions.

I would use an impact adhesive, something like Evostick, this is I see shoe repairers/ cobblers using.

Same here with the shoe goo - didn't work for me at all - just came apart again.

    “Roll it back”

You want contact adhesive (impact glue/adhesive (stupid name)). The fact the sole came off and the repair failed suggests to me the surfaces are contaminated by something oily, even if this not readily apparent. Clean off all traces of previous glues. Degrease both surfaces thoroughly by wiping with a clean cloth and a strong solvent, at least two times using different areas of a rag each time. I'd suggest acetone, but it's weirdly near unobtainable in this country. A second choice would be lighter fluid (naptha) and I'd run a hair dryer over both surfaces and warm them before applying the contact adhesive - a thin coat on both surfaces is all that's needed. A bit more hair dryer to evaporate most of the adhesive solvent (toluene), then press the shoe and sole together firmly. Make sure to get the alignment perfect first time as there's no second chances with contact adhesive. I'd 'roll' the two together, micro adjusting as I went.

Take the shoes to a cobbler...

Cnocbui, could nail polish remover be used instead of acetone?

I use methylated spirit on kitchen paper when degreasing prior to using adhesives etc. If there are traces of old adhesive I'll use some white spirit to remove these.
