    Hi,

just had an electrician out who told us it’s safe to tile over a blanking plate - anyone know if this is actually ok as I had thought it was not?

this was a used socket until fairly recent but is no longer needed and the hope is to completely tile over

If the cables are still running into the backbox there then it shouldn't be tiled over for a number of reasons:

    * The connections should be accessible for inspection, testing and maintenance

    * There will be no indication that the cables are running in that prescribe route (so-called "safe zones") as the plate will be hidden
