recently the 63A 30Ma started tripping, this is labeled RCD safety trip, this is taken out all sockets, no other trips are tripping?? Id have thought a trip for socket with an issue would trip and then trip the safety? what could be causing this ??

yesterday it tripped while out of the house, there was nothing on, no dishwaster, dryer, washing machine, just the usual items plugged in, freezer, tvs on standby and so on,

    any ideas of the cause

Yes you have an earth fault on a socket circuit or something connected to a socket circuit. The rcd might also feed your immersion.

First port of call look at the things with water, immersion, washing machine, dishwasher, outdoor lights etc... Without a Megger to check the insulation resistance it will have to be done via trial an error.

I'm not really sure what you mean by:

"Id have thought a trip for socket with an issue would trip and then trip the safety"

It tripped the RCD so nothing else should trip.

It's possible that the freezer may be the issue. These type of faults can be difficult to diagnose as they are intermittent. If you can turn everything else off and leave the freezer on that may help to either eliminate it or prove it is the reason for the rcd tripping.

The immersion can also be a reason for an RCD tripping intermittently so make sure it's off too.

thanks, the we dont use the immersion, ill plug out what I can and see can I narrow it down, it mighten happen for 2 weeks and could happen twice in the one day. so will be like a needle in a hay stack Im thinking

a competent rec should diagnose this relatively easily with an insulation resistance test

Quite possibly, but not necessarily due to the intermittent nature of it. After all the fault will need to present itself at the time of investigation in order to be able to locate it.

Is this supplying any outdoor lighting?

If yes and was it raining at the time?

    PS

(belatedly noticed outdoor lights already mentioned as possible cause in the thread)..
