Building a Log Cabin to live in

Hi all. I'm thinking strongly of selling home and getting a log cabin built. I'm looking at a 3 or 4 bedroom cabin in the region of 70k. Now, what I'm looking to know is, has anyone else built and currently living in a log cabin and roughly what are the costs on top of the actual purchase of the cabin.

I have a site to construct on. I would have to drill my own well for water and I'm wondering the rough cost of plumbing, electricity and the likes. Thanks folks

It will add a lot of extra cost to bring a log cabin into compliance with the building regulations even if you get planning for one.

What kind of extra costs are we talking about though? And is it that difficult to get planning? I really have no idea and there doesn't seem to be a whole pile of info online which points me in the direction of who best to advise me?

Contact a local engineer or planning consultant for the correct advise and ignore social media on the topic.

Is this still a requirement? I built my own house back in 2006 and this was a pain in the hole to satisfy 🙄
