Visiting from USA - Can I get a digital COVID passport?

I moved to the US and me and my family are home visiting my parents. We're all vaccinated, but we're finding that we can't go to indoor stuff because we don't have the EU Digital COVID certificate. Some places accept the little bits of paper the CDC gave us... and some places don't.

Can we get an EU Digital COVID certificate for our visit?

No. It is for vaccines administered in the EU (and EEA) only.

It depends on the place that you're visiting. Everywhere I went last week accepted my non-EU proof of double vaccination. Some needed explaining, others took a brief look and waved me on.

Get an antigen test for €45 from randox. They provide eu dcc with the result.

They're in Dublin airport (long queue), dublin city centre, and other cities.

Under 18s don't need one

Yes, Donegal was like this. "Are ye double-jabbed? Come on in"... seems like Dublin is stricter.

Aren't the certificates that come from tests temporary, and only good for a few days?

Thats correct. 72 hours for a PCR test. 48 hours for antigen.

Best bet is to use whatever documentation you have from US - as mentioned above it may require explaining.

above rules for indoor dining say you can dine indoors once "fully vaccinated"

Edit: actually that page doesn't say anything about being eligible on the basis of a test (PCR or antigen) - it is citizens information though, not exactly statute law, so stand to be corrected.

Section here defines "fully vaccinated" - it says

If you were vaccinated in a country outside the EEA (that is, a third country) you should have a valid COVID-19 vaccination certificate that has been officially recognised as equivalent to the EU DCC.

Making an assumption here that the american vaccination cert is equiv to the european cert.
